In the newest episode of Click Connect Drive: A Phantom Auto PodcastKenco's Creative Problem-Solving in the Supply Chain, host Daniel Litwin spoke with Trevor Erlich, Creative Solutions Manager for Kenco Logistics, and Evan Rago, Solution Development and Sales for Phantom Auto. Erlich and Rago discuss how companies on the front lines of our supply chains are dealing with various pressures on their operations while also learning how to roll out remote operation solutions in their workflows to meet ever-growing demands.

Today, our supply chain is riddled with various pain points: Everything from the volatility of our global supply of commodities to worker shortages to ever-shifting consumer demands. To address these challenges, Kenco Logistics, a third-party logistics (3PL) provider, saw the value of Phantom Auto's remote operation solution and is working to transform their supply chain footprint.

Kenco's place in the broader supply chain includes distribution, transportation, material handling, real estate, and e-commerce. With a hand in so many pots, they’ve certainly seen various pressures on their operations, especially over the past year. This has forced them to become more creative in their solutions. As e-commerce demand has significantly increased, so has the need for new hires in these roles.

"It has merged into more of a headcount and workforce problem. So, how do we keep people coming and the lines rolling?" Ehrlich said. "It has been a challenge."

Ehrlich and Rago discussed that the biggest issue facing logistics operators is a shortage of labor to fill critical operational roles. This pressure on their operations is causing many to reimagine their workflows to meet today's needs by looking to technology solutions such as remote operation. They also broke down how Kenco's needs reflect a larger trend in the industry and got into specifics of what it takes to launch and scale remote operation solutions.
