Today, Phantom Auto Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer, Elliot Katz, spoke on the TRB Automated Road Transportation Symposium panel entitled Remote Support for Automated Vehicle Operations, along with representatives from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Designated Driver, Oceaneering, and more.

The panel discussed features and technological aspects related to remote support, such as connectivity and communication, vehicle and roadside surveillance equipment, standardization, scalability, cybersecurity, etc. They also examined the need for remote support, as well as synergies with other roles and responsibilities in the operational domain. In addition, the session reviewed the virtual ‘whiteboard’ with an overview of takeaways, open issues, implementation needs, and topics for future research collected during the break-out session.
